We rely on our incredible team to provide the most important feedback as we create and formulate each and every one of our products. They provide critical insight and input that shapes our products and our mission. Today, our amazing intern, Kendall, is sharing her experience with our Detox Purifying Facial Bar.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had to deal with facial acne. In high school, my acne got so bad I would try just about anything: spot treatments, harsh creams provided by the dermatologist, etc. I even resorted to using Accutane, which I’ve regretted to this day. I was desperate to try anything to gain a little self-esteem. I even used makeup that was specifically for breakouts and it left my skin feeling dry and stressed out.
I thought my breakouts would subside by the time I was an adult, but between grad school, working, and planning a wedding, stressed skin was my unfortunate reality. As an informed consumer, I now look for products that are natural, vegan, and not harsh on the environment. Now, you couldn’t pay me to touch the stuff my dermatologist used to prescribe!
I decided to give the Seaweed Bath Co.’s Purifying Detox Facial Bar a try. I usually reach for some sort of liquid soap when it comes to my face, so I was curious how I would feel about a facial bar soap. This was my process each morning/night:
- Wet washcloth under hot water.
- Place washcloth to dampen skin and open pores.
- Rub detox facial soap directly on skin until it created a lather.
- Massage lather into face.
- Wipe off with wet washcloth.
Immediately after using the soap, I noticed my skin felt a little tighter and cleaner. I loved the way the volcanic ash exfoliated my skin. I felt like the exfoliating properties gave my pores a deeper cleaning than some of the traditional gel cleansers I used in the past. Depending on the time of day I washed my face, I would follow up with the Restoring Marine Serum or Marine Night Therapy.
After one use I could feel a difference, but after one week of using the product, some of my redness began to fade. I noticed my uneven textured skin began to be a little less noticeable.
After a month of use, I felt way more confident in the look and feel of my skin. The bar helped calm my inflamed skin and kept new breakouts at bay. For me, the $7.99 sticker price is budget-friendly and the product lasts way longer than 30 days! I’m still on the same facial bar as I write this (about 50 days in).
