What Does Natural Mean to Us

We believe in transparency when it comes to our product labels and our marketing. We are proud of the ingredients in our products and list them on every label, as well as share additional information below. Our products are specifically formulated to be safe and effective. We work hard to ensure our products have combinations of ingredients that are not only calming and soothing but also effective to achieve desired results.

As of this writing, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), which is responsible for overseeing personal care products and cosmetics, does not currently provide a definition for the term “natural.”  Because a legal definition does not yet exist, Seaweed Bath Co., in its commitment to transparency, would like to explain what we consider “natural” to mean.

After reading through customer surveys, testimonials, and voluntary standards from various organizations (NPAEWGWhole Foods Eco Scale, etc.), we put together our own definition of the term "natural."  In doing so, our goal is to help you make a well-informed decision as to whether our products are the right choice for you.

We make intelligent, responsible raw material choices, and whenever possible, obtain materials from renewable plant resources such as coconut, corn, soy or olive. At times, we choose not to use a plant-derived material for reasons of efficacy, consistency and safety.

Our products do not contain ammonia, chlorine, glycol solvents, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, artificial colorants, phosphates or petroleum distillates.

We do not test our products on animals, and all products are Leaping Bunny Certified.

Our amber bottles are recyclable and made from 100% post-consumer plastic. Our skincare boxes are certified Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

We manufacture according to exacting personal care standards in a cosmetic-grade cGMP facility. cGMP is an abbreviation for the term "current Good Manufacturing Practice", which refers to FDA regulations regarding the manufacturing, testing, and quality control of pharmaceutical and food products.

All suppliers of The Seaweed Bath Co. that use ingredients derived from Palm Oil are members of RSPO (Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil). The Seaweed Bath Co. supports sustainable practices of eco-sensitive areas throughout Asia, Africa and South America like the Brazilian rainforests.
